Week 2: Mount Vesuvius and the Supermodel

While the title of this entry may not be crystal clear initially,  a little explanation will help straighten everyone out.  Greer's second week of life was filled with many new adventures just like the first week.

On Friday, Greer had her 2 week checkup at the pediatrician's office.  I can't tell you what all they check for during this visit, but I know for sure she would have enjoyed the visit more if the temperature in the doctor's office would have been warmer than 60 degrees.  If I needed a coat just to sit there, I can only imagine how cold Greer must have been laying on the examination table with only a diaper on.  But that's beside the point.  During this visit, they weighed and measured Greer.  She weighed 7 pounds 11.5 ounces and was 20 3/4 inches tall.  This put her in the 70th percentile for height and 25th percentile for weight.  Our daughter quite tall and slender, or as some might say, she is a supermodel (but without the eating disorder).  One other note, Greer had grown 3/4 of an inch in the two weeks she has been born.  If she keeps up this pace, she will be 6 feet tall on her third birthday (that might look awkward).

Did you hear that rumble on Saturday morning?  No, Mount Vesuvius is not threatening to erupt again, that was simply a little baby's bowel movement.  After a 24 hour stint of constipation, I (dad) made the medical suggestion of "Let's take her diaper off, that's bound to make her go."  And it worked.  She went, and went, and went while mom and dad cheered alongside.
